How would you be able to get those 2 mixed up? Nobody sees a Probe from the backside...

Closer would be an FD and that Firebird.

Drive a real car and say that.

I have my respect for probes, they are fun. But I'll take my f body over a probe any day of the week. Even a boosted ZE probe is around stock power for an F-body.

If I glanced quick it would be a hard choice for what kind of car that was.

Ehh, Yeah they are a bit more. But F body's are getting cheap. You can pick up a decent ls1 car for fairly cheap. Even cheaper a "slow and old" LT1 like my car.

Difference being that power, to the weight ratio. Probe is what...800 lbs lighter than an F-body??

ANd just look around on Youtube. There's plenty of 400+ and then some Probes running around out there.

Also, there is a mod for stuffing a 4.6 liter and a 5.0 motor into a Probe. It's similar to the one for doing the same mod to a Miata. Add a couple sub frame connectors, a rearend, and POW!!!, you are smoking an F-body any day. Of course, then there is the body support, and roll stabilizer, custom sway links and.... Before you know it, your Probe costs the same as a stock F-body.
Difference being, one is front wheel, and one is rear. Depends on your preference. Don't get me wrong, if I ever get the chance to pick up a 97 Firehawk, or an 02 WS-6 Coupe, I am going to be all over it (Just because I have always loved the Firebirds), but for a street beat, light to light, make their jaws drop 'cause they just got their ass handed to them ride, I'll take the Probe. Plus they are more mod friendly.

Maybe someday I will have the money to throw around for shit like that! Until then, I will still be broke-ass me.

don't the firebirds have that checker pattern tail light scheme when you press the brakes? i always thought that clearly gave it away.

they sold a white firebird at my dads work last week for $3000. when it was sent through detailing, they found a bag under the seat with $200 cash in it and a bunch of checks. i'd say the previous owner got robbed with the low balled trade in price and left alot more of his own money in the car lol

Ehhh, there aren't very many 400 horse power probes. There are a few 300-325ish, but hell there are very few that are even making it to 350 at the wheels.

Fair enough Sk8, however, I know that they are capable of a hell of a lot more. Honestly, it's not very hard (expensive...yes) to get 400+ ponies out of a Probe. Everyone is stuck on "BOLT ON" parts because no one wants to take the time to get "dirty" machining old parts. Screw that. Yeah, some shit you HAVE TO buy, but, if you know what you are doing and take your time, you can make power without having to whip out the checkbook/credit card.

I guess the biggest thing that slays me on a regular basis, is just how disposable of a society that many people think we are. Car stops running, whoop, time to get a new car. Prime example: Last night I stop in to my Autozone store (the one I work at) and someone had cored a 350 Chev for a complete new motor because Cyl's 4 and 6 were misfiring and he couldn't figure it out. As soon as the core came in, we new what the problem was. Misaligned intake gasket causing a vacuum leak over....Yup Cyl's 4 and 6. For a $90 set of upper and lower intake gaskets he would have saved himself $3600+ dollars. Dumb.

All I am saying is, there is a lot more power that can exploited from these motors if you just look for the small things

THat's true. I wouldn't go as far and say that the kl's are more responsive to mods then a lt1/ls1 it's nit un heard of to gain 45-50 rwhp from just doing intake/headers/exhaust on them. Bigger motors take those types of mods like sterioids.

Hahaha. Tool Chief, It's actually about 550-600 pounds difference. Depending on options.

Not to keep preaching either but it isn't all that hard to get a f body down to 31-3200 pounds with driver in there too.

It can't hurt to pop in every once in a while I suppose. I don't want people to think i'm dead either lol. I might actually pick up another 6, for the hell of it. Why not, I've been eyeing one recently and who knows maybe it will happen... I need to finish putting an engine in my cobra though, the old one died and i've got a mach 1 4.6 waiting to go in. I should throw an engine party and have you all over to the new place, if you want. We could put in the engine, or maybe just drink beer

Spring BBQ?? Its getting nice out, not so much today but its been coming around out there lately.
